How does perimeter protection of fences work? The comfort of living in Poland is gradually improving. This is due to many factors: higher wages for jobs, the influence of foreign companies on the Polish economy or the invention of increasingly cheaper methods of producing goods.

To sum up: Poles are getting richer, and thus their assets are more and more valuable. At the same time, all systems ensuring the security of property, rooms and even personal belongings are being intensively developed. Why? The development of technology not only allows people to live better, but also allows criminals to use newer and newer techniques, such as theft.

Wanting to protect themselves from them, more and more people decide to purchase various types of anti-theft systems that allow owners to react quickly and thus protect themselves against potential losses. They are especially needed in rural areas, where people often have large areas to store valuables. So how do you protect your belongings from thieves?

What is perimeter protection?

Alarms mounted today on doors, windows or rooms may not protect us from potential theft. In this case, we received information about the threat relatively late, often without time to take appropriate security measures. To solve this problem, perimeter protection systems have been invented that, thanks to their mechanisms, can deter criminals before they can do any damage. How do these devices work? A perimeter security system is installed outside.

Activates when the area it protects is destroyed. An alarm is then triggered to deter intruders before they can enter your home. Perimeter security systems are most commonly used in large areas such as factories, industrial sites, and warehouses. On the other hand, its dedicated version is necessary for all military bases, government buildings or airports, where there is a high risk of hacking, and thus significant damage. There are different types of perimeter protection based on different detection techniques. What are each of them about?

Types of perimeter protection

The most common perimeter security systems are those that mount equipment on a fence around the site. But what is their method of recording stimuli? The most popular detection systems are piezoelectric systems.

Such detectors detect attempts to cut or break the fence, thanks to which they alert the residents or security of a given house. What’s more, they have the potential for additional integration with vibration sensors, increasing the accuracy of detecting unwanted fence movement. However, what happens when the fence goes through a very windy day? In this case, each perimeter protection system has a controller that can distinguish movements caused by weather phenomena from, for example, man-made movements.

Thanks to this, we do not have to worry that we will be incorrectly reported too often, and the system itself will do more harm than good. Many detectors are also protected against high or low temperatures and objects generating strong magnetic fields, thanks to which the operation of such devices cannot be disturbed in any way. But are there perimeter protection systems that can operate underground or above ground?

Microwave and infrared barriers

Both of the above barriers belong to the ground protection system. Infrared protection systems can be associated with various films without interrupting it when the main character has to pass through a beam of radiation in order not to trigger an alarm. Microwave barriers, on the other hand, work in a very similar way. However, as their name suggests, they emit microwaves rather than infrared beams.

On the market, you can also often find double barriers that combine the two mechanisms mentioned above to more effectively protect a specific area from theft. On the other hand, if you are looking for a perimeter system hidden underground, seismic or hydraulic sensors are worth considering in this case. The former react to vibrations that occur, for example, when walking.

So if we are sure that there are no living beings in a given room (I mean of course people or animals), then this technology will work perfectly in this. Otherwise, there is a risk of interfering with its operation and thus triggering false positives. Hydraulic sensors, on the other hand, react to changes in pressure, which can be caused by different pressures on the ground.

As such, their mechanism is similar to seismic sensors, which is why they are often used together. All in all, there are many ways that can help us secure a given area or room, but to choose the right one, you need to analyze many factors.
